Tips for Your Visit to LEGOLAND California
Tip #1       Tickets are Cheaper During Off-Peak Season

Not only is the park less crowded, the ticket prices are reduced because of Off Peak Season.  Be sure to confirm park hours. Legoland is usually open from 9am – 8pm,  but open 10am – 5pm during the Off-Peak Season.

One of the many moments of loving on her brother in Legoland. They really had a blast!
Tip #2    The Multi-Day Pass is Worth It!

There’s plenty to see and explore at Legoland and you will need more than a day to experience it all.  Especially if it’s your family’s first visit or if you’re traveling a long distance, the Multi-Day Pass is worth every penny. We purchased the 1-Day ticket and regretted not getting more days.  We didn’t have a chance to see everything and felt a little rushed near early closing.  Though our 1-Day was filled with fun!

More Tips: There are 3 Legoland Attractions in the same area,  Legoland Park, Legoland Water Park, and Sea Life Aquarium.  Legoland Water Park is NOT open during Off-Peak Season.

Tip #3         Bring a Change of Clothes

Bring extra clothes or a towel even if you don’t plan to visit the Legoland Water Park . There are some rides with water features and a splash pad the kids will enjoy.

Rides like this are guaranteed to give your kids a  little splash. Don’t forget your towel.
Tip #4        Wait Until Your Kids are Tall Enough to Visit

Most rides at Legoland have a height requirement of 48″ and  58″. Several families were turned away from rides because their children weren’t tall enough. Sure there are lots of other things your little ones can see and do in the park but do you really want to disappoint them while on vacation?   My children were 9 and 7 when we visited and were able to ride everything.  We all had a great time!

I love that our youngest child at 7 was able to get on every single ride including this stand-up water action ride with his dad.
Tip #5       Look for Kids Eat Free Signs in Park

Look for the Kids Eat Free signs in the park during the Off-Peak Season in the afternoon.   We spotted one at the Pizza and Pasta Buffet restaurant.  The food options at Legoland are good and reasonably priced considering you are inside an amusement park. No complaint on the service and cleanliness of the dining areas either.  Just to add, the restrooms were also mom-approved!

The Kids Meals were less than $10 and included chips and a drink.

Tip #6        Store Your Valuables in the Lockers Provided

Some of the rides in the park restrict bags and loose items.   There is an area at each station you can put personal items into but I wasn’t completely comfortable leaving my valuables that wasn’t locked or guarded.  Storage lockers are available for a small fee at the front of the park.  It’s also a good place to put your towels or change of clothes so you don’t have to tote them around the park.

Almost every ride in the park had the perfect amount of thrill, not too scary and not too boring. My husband and I rode with our kids and enjoyed ourselves just as much as they did!

Park Citizens are ready to swap mini figures with you. Don’t forget to bring them.
Tip #7        Visit the Gift Shops Early

Don’t wait until the end of the day to go to the gift shops for official park souvenirs.  The lines were out the door near closing time. There are several shops located around the park and the largest one is at the entrance/exit.    Legoland offers complimentary valet service for items you purchase at the shops.   You can pickup all your purchases on your way out of the park no matter where you shop.

Tip #8       Bring LEGO Mini Figures to Trade

Be sure your kids bring their mini figures from home to trade with park citizens (employees). Everyone working at Legoland have mini figures to trade with guest.  My 7 year old enjoyed this activity the most.

Tip #9       Visit the LEGOLAND Hotel and Resort

The Legoland Hotel  is on property with the park and you don’t have to be a guest to drop in for a visit.  We had dinner at one of the restaurants inside the Legoland Resort.  There are scheduled family activities and entertainment and fun things to look at just in the lobby.  It’s a small hotel that fills up fast so if you plan to stay overnight, be sure to make your reservation early.

Tip:  If you’re staying at the Legoland Hotel and Resort you have access to the parks an hour earlier than the general public.

Many of the rides the kids enjoyed on their own. I love the bit of independence and mommy and daddy breaks we were able to get while they rode alone.
Tip #10        Purchase Tickets Online for Discounts

You can by your tickets cheaper online than at the ticket counter. You can also search for coupon codes using ‘Legoland California discount code’.  There are BOGO coupons at a few of the local restaurants during off peak season.

Parking for Legoland is an additional $15

My absolute favorite part of Legoland is the Star War displays. It left me in awe!
Tip #11       Stay Local

If Legoland is your primary reason for visiting the area be sure to book a hotel close to the park.

We stayed at the Hyatt Place San Diego/Vista Carlsbad.  It was a 10 minute drive to Legoland and it was very comfortable and convenient.  The Hyatt Place offers complimentary buffet breakfast, large clean suites that includes sleeper sofa, and a swimming pool.

  1. Have you ever considered about adding a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is important and all. Nevertheless think of if you
added some great pictures or video clips to give your posts more,
“pop”! Your content is excellent but with images and videos, this site could definitely be one of the very best in its niche.
    Fantastic blog!

  2. This looks like it would be a great experience for the young and for the young at heart, including me. They look like they had so much fun! I am so glad Legos are back in style :-).

  3. My daughter would have loved this a few years ago but now if it doesn’t involve makeup or clothes she is not interested but my nephew is one so that may be an option

  4. We’ve never been to Lego Land but I want to take the kids. My daughter is 5 and tall enough to do more. My son is 12 though and I believe he is probably a bit big for everything.

    1. Hi Mimi! If your son loves Ninjago he will love Legoland. They have a Ninjago experience that was being built when we went. My son begged to come back for it.

  5. I’ve never visited LegoLand California, but I went to the Florida location. We did experience not being able to get on a few rides due to our daughter’s height, but it didn’t keep us from enjoying the park. She’s 48″ now so we plan on returning.

  6. Looks like you guys had fun. I’ve been thinking about going to the one here in Florida! But since we might be in Cali early next year, maybe I’ll try this one too!

    1. Hi LaShawn, you wont be dissapointed. Legoland California was by far a great family experience. I look forward to my next trip.
