It’s that time of the year again when registration for summer camps begin to open and the more popular summer camps get filled.  If you live in Atlanta and have kids, then you know what I’m talking about.

Don’t let your kids get locked out of the some great summer opportunities Atlanta has to offer.  Start researching their options now and begin budgeting for the extra expense.

I’ve had my share of experience with summer camps and I usually have an idea of what I want to register for, but for those of you that are searching and need a little guidance, this list is for you.

(H)– High Risk of Selling Out-Book as soon as registration is available.

(M)– Medium Risk-Book by Spring Break.

(L)– Low Risk of Selling Out- Book before the Summer.

STEM Summer Day Camps

Georgia Tech CEISMC Summer PEAKS – Registration begins mid-February. Sign up to get on the mailing list.  Mostly for middle grades and up.  (H)

iD Tech Camps– Summer Camp campus at Georgia Tech, Emory and Fulton Science Academy.  Overnight and Day Camp options. For students ready to advance in technology, camp rate higher than average.  (H)

Children’s Museum of Atlanta – Great summer camp with weekly themed activities.  Summer camps dates unavailable at this time. (M)

Arts Summer Day Camps

Fulton County Arts Center – One of the best values in town.  Multiple locations. Lots of activities for kindergarten to high school.  The Southwest Arts Center location is extremely popular and will fill fast. Registration usually available around Spring Break. (H)

Alliance Theater Camps– One to two week acting and performance workshop sessions for all ages.  40% Discount on all camps Tuesday Jan. 19th at 10am.  (H)

Sports Summer Day Camps

KidZone Summer Academy at Top Golf– Half Day camps for 6-12 years olds. Early bird discount for 20% off using code “earlybird” when booking.  Registration opens in March. (M)

Emory University Nike Tennis Camp– Ages 5-17 Day and overnight options. Registration open now. (M)

YMCA Camps Atlanta Locations – Ages 4 and up. Full and half day options available. Buckhead location has the most options and is one of the larger summer camp sites.  Scholarships available. Registration is open now. (H)

Nature/Gardening Summer Day Camps

Atlanta Zoo Summer Safari Day Camp -PreK to 8th grade.  Very well organized camp.  Indoor and outdoor activities.  Half day options for younger children. Popular summer dates will fill up quickly.  (M)

Trees Atlanta Youth Day Camps– 1st through 6th grade. Limited Scholarships available. Registration Open Now. (M)

Piedmont Park EnviroVentures Day Camp – Ages 5 through 15. Half day and full day programs. Scholarships may be available. Registration open now. (H)

Academic Summer Day Camps

Emory University Summer Institute for the Gifted-Day program and overnight program available.  Ages 5-8. Application Fee. Registration process for entry. (H)

Overnight Summer Camps

Girl Scouts Camp – One of the most trusted organization for girls offers day camp and overnight camps on 4 different locations surrounding Atlanta.  Our favorite is Camp Timber Ridge in Mableton, Ga.  This camp is open for registered and non registered girls. (M)
