Guess Who’s Back! My Mommy Flies

It’s been nearly 3 years since my last post. Though this blog continues to remain active with readership, which I’m extremely grateful for, I took a much needed break from travel blogging.

Since 2018, our family continued to travel around the globe but I chose to keep our escapades unpublished.  Writing about travel became exhausting not just because of the constant photos for the blog, but the time and effort it took to “perfect” every post became too daunting.

But enough of the why, let me just go into what I’ve been up to.  So much has happened. We’re now deep into COVID-19 and quarantine and I haven’t flown outside the US  or worked any flight since March 2020.  I am still a flight attendant.  My company offered staff a personal leave of absence and I took the longest one possible, through September 2021. We still have our flight privileges, but with all that’s going on, it isn’t worth the risk.

I launched a travel agency, KM Travel Agency LLC, in 2018.  I had several group trips booked for my clients summer of 2020 that had to be cancelled due to COVID, but nevertheless I’ve used this time to educate and focus.  I’m excited about the future of travel and growing my business. When travel returns, as it is slowing returning now, it will take on a whole new meaning.  I’m eager to play an active role and getting families and couples on track to fulfilling their destination desires.

I studied Yoga to help me quell my travel urges during quarantine and earned my 200 Yoga Teacher Training certification. I now teach a free yoga class online weekly and occasionally with my Girl Scout troop which are about to bridge to Seniors (9th grade). For those of you that do not know, I’ve been their troop leader since the girls were in 1st grade. Wow!

I also recently completed Cornell University’s Women Entrepreneurs Leadership Program.  It’s a 6-course business program to support women in growing and developing their business.  This came right on time and was just what I needed as I begin to rebrand and plan for KM Travel Agency.

In October 2020 I lost my dear sister Tiye.  It was the first time ever dealing with grief on this level and it was extremely shattering.  Nevertheless, prayer and meditation have been instrumental in guiding me through and beyond.  Every day is struggle but every day brings a new opportunity to live.  For this I’m grateful.

There’s so much more that has happened but the last thing I want to report is my success in learning to SWIM!  I set a goal at the beginning of 2020 to learn. It was stopped short by COVID-19. When my sister passed away it was the only thing I could think of doing that made any sense.  She’s an Aquarius and was a natural swimmer.  For reasons I can’t explain, being in the pool and pushing myself to get to the other side made it feel like I was in her presence.  Learning to swim has been life changing and is helping me shed other fears and doubts.

Through all the triumphs and challenges of these recent years I’m very grateful.

At some point I plan to share details, trips, and reviews of our previous family trips.  Until then here’s a recap of our comings and goings. Leave me a comment if you have any questions about these destinations or thoughts on anything I shared here today.  Again I’m so grateful for my readership and those that continue to give me a platform to share my life.
