Family Travel: Hyatt Ziva Montego Bay Jamaica

A few days off from reality to get our skin kissed by the sun in Montego Bay Jamaica was just what we needed.  Our choice for luxury accommodations?  The Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall

Family Travel Hyatt Ziva Montego Bay Jamaica!

The Hyatt Ziva is an all inclusive luxury family resort located next door to Hyatt Zilary, the all adult sister property.

Our visit to the Rose Hall reaffirmed Hyatt’s top position on my list of outstanding service and luxury resort brands.  (See my review on another Hyatt property Andaz Resort Costa Rica.)

The views from the Hyatt Ziva are spectacular.

The Ziva is locate 25 minutes from the Montego Bay airport making the drive short enough for children but just long enough to get you a distance away from the busier parts of town.

Every morning we arrived to a fresh variety of breakfast items.

Checking in was easy and we were able to enjoy a nice lunch at the beach grill as we waited for our room.  To our surprise and delight we got upgraded to a one bedroom suite which came with our own personal and private butler.

I welcomed the idea of having someone else manage all our personal affairs and our butler made sure we enjoyed every moment of our stay.  He even delivered a platter of grilled lobster tails to us and a beautiful cake to celebrate my birthday during our visit.

Catch of the day delivered poolside.

The Hyatt Ziva has 387 rooms and grand suites.  Some offer swim up access from a private pool and many of the suites are oceanview.  We had the pleasure of staying in an Oceanview King Suite.  There was a pull out sofa and we ordered an extra bed for our kids.  Our room was over 1000 sq. feet with 2 full bathrooms, one with a shower and the other with a full sized soaking tub and separate shower.  The suite also has two wide balconies off the master and the living room.   Everything in our room was exceptional, from the white marbled bathroom to the magnificent views of the Caribbean Sea.

Dining at the Ziva Rose Hall is arguable one of the best experiences!   There are seven restaurants on site and every meal was delicious,  fresh, and authentic.  Jerk chicken was served right off the grill at Barefoot Jerkz all day long and was my husband’s daily choice for lunch.  The potato gnocchi with blue cheese cream sauce and the brick oven pizza at the Italian restaurant DiRoza had me forgetting all about my no dairy diet.  The service was impeccable and the staff was friendly, even taking some time to teach my kids a little patois “wat gwan”.

Ziva Rose Hall has it all and our 5 day visit was not nearly enough time to get it in.   There’s the beautiful white sandy beaches with plenty of lounging chairs, oversized swings hanging from trees, and upfront cabanas.   A full list of aquatic activities are offered at the beach and the snorkel gear is complimentary.

Montego Bay is known for their beautiful beaches and this one is no exception.

Our favorite activity was dropping the kids off at the Kids Club and having adult time.  It’s opened daily and my finicky 9 and 7 year olds enjoyed their time without mommy and daddy.  They take them to the pool and have several planned activities for them throughout the day.  There is also kids gaming lounge that has an air hockey, video games, and board games.

We spent most of our pool side.  Our butler made sure we had everything we needed from towels, to drinks we didn’t need to move from our spots.  There are 3 large pools on site, not including the private swim up pools or the hot tubs located around the resort. If you have small children or new swimmers, be sure to bring your own floating devices, the shallowest side of the pool is over 3 feet.

The pool area has private cabanas available for rent.  When you upgrade to a Butler Suite you do get a complimentary cabana rental.

The entertainment and activities at the Ziva Rose Hall is all day.  Entertainment included live Reggae music, dance competitions at the pool, a Circus Show, and even a Michael Jackson tribute.

There was a welcome reception one evening that was wonderfully done.  And on our last night at the Ziva all the guest were invited to a beach party for dinner. There was plenty to eat fresh off the grill, a live reggae band and singer, dancing, more drinking, and a spread of desserts.   This by far was one of the best birthday experiences.

Our final night ended in a beach party and surprise birthday celebration hosted by our butler.

Needless to say our time at Hyatt Ziva in Montego Bay quickly came to an end.  I look forward to the next opportunity to visit again.

  1. This resort sounds amazing! You had me at two bathrooms in the suite AND speedo all butler? Yes please. I need to get back to Jamaica for some beach time and grilled lobster and jerk chicken! This post made me homesick.
