Customs Border Protection hopes to reduce passenger wait times and streamline entry by allowing travelers to complete their customs form via the MPC app upon their arrival into the U.S. Once the form is completed, travelers will receive an electronic receipt with an Encrypted Quick Response code (QR) to present to custom officers.
Just like the traditional customs declaration forms, you can add up to 3 family members. Each individual traveler must present a valid U.S. or Canadian passport and the mobile device with the QR code. Travelers will have 4 hours after receipt of the QR code to finalize their screening with a CBP officer.
The new Mobile Passport Control app does the same thing that the new Automated Passport Control Kiosks (APC) does so there is no need to wait in line to get your picture taken. Travelers will be directed to bypass the APC kiosks to be screened by a customs officer that will verify your identity and admissibility.
